South Korean automaker SsangYong is developing a new mid-size electric SUV called Torres, and the first spy photos of the prototype have emerged.
The camouflage on the vehicle hints at a battery-electric drivetrain, with no exhaust pipes visible.
The new electric SUV will be positioned between the Korando and Rexton, and will have a more rugged exterior styling.
There are no details yet on the powertrain, although SsangYong's only production EV,
the Korando e-Motion, has a 52-kWh battery pack and a range of 210 miles (340 km).
The Torres is a larger and more expensive machine, so it is possible that SsangYong will develop something new.
The new electric version of the Torres is expected to be sold globally, including in Europe and Australia.
It remains to be seen if this will be the first model to wear the company's new KG Mobility brand name, which was announced earlier this year.
